Fees

Our fees in most cases are “flat fees”, a single agreed upon fee amount that covers whatever legal services are necessary for a given phase of the case. Because only a small percentage of cases actually go through a jury trial (most are negotiated or dismissed) our initial retainer generally covers all pretrial phases, but not trial or trial preparation. In over 90% of our cases in the past, the initial retainer was the entirety of the attorney fees.

The amount of the initial retainer is based upon the seriousness of the case, its complexity, the likelihood of extended litigation, and more generally, the amount of time and effort we believe is required to provide the quality of representation we adhere to. Generally, we will provide “ball park” figures in initial phone conversations and specific fee amounts after a (free) initial consultation.
