Felonies

Felony charges are serious business. Convictions can have lifelong complications, even if the initial penalty imposed is minimal. Our first target in every felony case is to avoid felony conviction. Sometimes our focus is on weaknesses in the prosecution’s case or strengths in the defense case developed through investigation or forensic evaluation.

Sometimes our focus is on mitigation – the development of positive backgrounds circumstances which explain the charged conduct and make it less culpable. In cases where dismissal is not realistically possible, we can frequently convince prosecutors or courts to reduce the charges to misdemeanor level. Every case – and every client – is different; the optimal strategy must be drawn from reviewing prosecution evidence and from listening to our client.
