Statement of Mission
Our goal is to provide the best possible
representation to every client at a realistic, affordable price. We take
seriously our obligation to assure that government agencies comply with
constitutional limitations and respect the dignity of our clients.
Mr. Duree is a preeminent criminal defense attorney in the
Sacramento area. His peer review ratings reflect the highest levels of
competence and ethics in the legal profession. For over 20 years he has been
certified by the state bar as a specialist in criminal law. He has focused
exclusively on the defense of people charged with criminal conduct since 1981.
He was selected as a Northern California “Super Lawyer” in 2006.
He is a former prosecutor, having served as a deputy Attorney General for the
State of California in the criminal division, and as legal counsel to the
Attorney General’s executive staff.
His experience includes appearing in the United States Supreme Court, twice in
the California Supreme Court and numerous times in the Ninth Circuit Court of
Appeals and the California Court of Appeal. He has been lead counsel in over a
dozen published appellate cases. He has handled in excess of 100 jury trials,
with an inordinately high rate of success. He has been a member of the NORML
legal committee for over 10 years. He is a current member of California
Attorneys for Criminal Justice.
His academic experience includes graduating with honors from McGeorge School of
Law, serving as Associate Editor of the Pacific Law Journal, authoring a law
review comment, being admitted to the Traynor Society of Academic Excellence as
a permanent member and being awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for
academic achievement.
Associates and Staff
Erin J. Radekin is an experienced, aggressive criminal defense lawyer. She has
worked in association with Mr. Duree for over 8 years. Her advocacy, both oral
and written, is of the highest caliber and her dedication to clients is
unsurpassed.
Ms. Radekin has effectively represented clients working as a team with Mr. Duree on a wide variety of criminal cases, including DUI's, sex offenses, drug cases, "three strikes," cases involving immigration or licensing issues, juvenile delinquency, juvenile dependency, appeals, extraordinary writs, and state and federal habeas.
Ms. Radekin graduated from McGeorge School of Law, where she
focused on criminal law, in 2001. As a law student, she completed
internships at the Sacramento County Public Defender's Office and the Parole
Representation and Immigration Clinics at McGeorge.
Our administrative staff understands the importance of every case we handle.
They are sensitive to the stress that is normally associated with criminal
investigations and charges. They facilitate communication between attorney and
client and handle the many administrative components of our cases. It is their
goal to perform their work in a manner that alleviates–
the personal difficulties that come with involvement in the criminal justice
system.
